Recently I completed the following items on the painting and weathering of these two projects :1.Gloss coated both tanks with Future Floor Wax. Applied decals (numbers and german crosses)over the Zimmerit surfaces by painting on an acid/plastic disolver called Solvaset. The decals "melted" nicely into the rough textured Zimmerit surfaces.
2. Hand painted the lightning insigina on the Tiger I. Hand painted several
tools, gun cleaning rods etc.3. Added a mud mixture in subdued amounts to the road wheels, undersides, fenders and portions of the track. I made the mud with coffee grounds, baking soda, Elmer's Glue and acrylic paint and thinner. I brushed the goop on with an old brush.
Next steps will be several applications of a very thinned "filter" paint to kill the contrast and give the surfaces a sun-faded appearance.
