I was going to start painting but in hindsight I realized that the cast steel hull plates and the turret sides and tops, are really way too smooth. German steel was really refined and smooth more so than the allied tanks.
But Dragon Models seemed to have left any steel detail out of the model. The turet side for example has weld lines in the proper spots but is totally smooth otherwise.
So first I took a blunt drill bit and a drill and scratched/burred into the surface using a medium speed on the drill.
Next using a cheap paintbrush, I painted Testor's plastic cement to all the flat steel surfaces to give the steel some texture. Keeping in mind this tank was a custom prototype and wasn't a production tank, this treatment will give the steel casting a believable prototype-like finish.
