Dry Brushing Part 1

Now comes the hard/amibitious part. Dry brushing with a mix of oils: red, burnt sienna, and black begins. The idea is to convey a protoype tank that arrived in factory red primer , received an initial coat of tan as a sealant but was incomplete and got really used at the testing grounds and perhaps sat around at the end of the war.

At this point the tank looks like a mess and has a glossy sheen that in the end will need to be taken back to dull. I will need another 24 hours or so for this oil paint to dry before I can continue.

In addition the numbers which would probably have been hand painted have been painted in. These will appear as dirt white, outlined in black.

Next step will be to make the gradation less drastic from tan to red and then apply dark rust red acrylic in spots to show where the oxide has worn off. In addition new tan will be integrated on high spots and in sections where tan pain has held up well.
